Ruben Pitty – English Principal
Since the very first moment I came to OIS, I felt privileged of being part of such a beautiful family. First, I worked as a Paraprofessional helping kids with special educational needs and sometimes substituting for elementary and high school teachers. After a couple of years, I became Assistant Principal for the Academic Coordination from sixth to twelfth grades. The task has not been easy; at the beginning, I questioned myself about what competencies I needed to master for getting a better start at the coordination. I wondered how to talk to parents or hold conferences related to some of our students´ behavioral aspects. To tell you the truth, my educational classes did not include those essential skills.
The Academic Coordination exists to support the teachers’ work as well as to join students, parents and faculty to create and ensure the best possible experience at OIS. It also coordinates school activities including conferences, seminars, and other events intended to educate and improve our educational community. To be part of an excellent team composed of highly devoted professionals from whom I learn that every single day is an honor.

Alvaro Alvarado Ojo – Spanish Principal
During the past decade, sharing my knowledge and experience with all the members of the OIS family has been gratifying. I began working at OIS as a teacher and later became Spanish coordinator, position I fulfill to date. My job has enabled me to actively participate in the continuous growth and development of Panama’s educational system favoring both local and foreign families.
OIS mission and vision are part of my own, for my goals are to aid the development of a fair, responsible, and proactive society. Also, I strongly believe that quality education, strong moral values, knowledge and application of new technologies, and English fluency are all key elements of our students’ future success.
The Spanish department’s mission is to reinforce fluency of written and oral Spanish and instill the importance of Panamanian cultural values and patriotism within a universal and continental frame.
